Maybe considered one of the most talented "unsigned" prospects in Oklahoma City, J-Nutt has proven his determination to succeed and conquer over fans hearts by touching all aspects of life through his music.
J-Nutt career started like many other independent artist, with hard work ethic and a hustle minded attitude. In 1999 J-Nutt began collaborating with local artist group "Prospect Children" which spawned street anthems like "Mini Mac & Quarter Machine". Not long after joining the group a turn of events lead to J-Nutt's break away from the underground company. Along with J-Nutt, Prospect member Hoggy also decided to leave the group, stating he "didn't like the direction the group was headed". Joining forces the two created a new organization called Musicmann (which was created by J-Nutt) and R.A.P. (which was headed by Hoggy). By 2004, the astounding team duo of J-Nutt and Hoggy, had released two solo projects (Drawing The Line & Well Connected) which successfully sold over 9000 copies out of the trunk. The street buzz had also allowed them to perform in many major shows and work of various projects with other local artist. J-Nutt claim to fame was his collaboration with friend P Wee, who allowed him to feature on his project which boasted many of St. Louis' top underground rappers. The track entitled "In The Club" also featured KP (formerly of the Trackboyz). After joining with different artist over multiple states J-Nutt then found a new passion aside from just being an artist. He began to work in the studio as a producer as well as writing for many other talented artist. In 2007 J-Nutt kicked out a number of underground projects, which included "The Leak Compilation, Let's Do This Mixtape, Go N Get It Mixtape, Mood Musiq Musicmann Compilation, and was featured on "Boss Koleone's album and P Wee's album. After a stint of constant production, J-Nutt decided it was time to head back in the booth to work on his next solo album. "1000 Words" is a mix of vivid lyrics and bass pounding production. This album shows J-Nutt's creativeness and also his personal growth in music. The tracks like "I Hope You Know" and "Better Man" touches on the struggles with everyday life as an artist trying to make it. Other tracks like "Beat It Up and "You Can Get It" are geared towards the ladies with catchy hooks and sensual word play. Down south like tracks "Money In The Way" and "3 In The Morning" will please die hard fans. J-Nutt continues to work on his craft, with a mission to be the best while also staying true to himself with his music. 1000 Words is sure to be one of his best works. J-Nutt is also currently woking on a Group album with all fellow Musicmanniacs, which is also the title. |
